In the winter of 2011, Valley Players will presented “4xChekhov,” four short, wonderful sketches by Anton Chekhov, based on Paul Schmidt’s lucid, lively translation of the works.

The production will present the sketches in a form to represent the life cycle of love. “The Proposal,” “The Wedding Reception,” “The Bear” and “On the Dangers of Tobacco” are classic satire written by the Jon Stewart of pre-revolution Moscow.
Prepare to meet a different Chekhov from the dark, moody, drama-heavy presentations common in American theater. Funny, bright, caustic and irreverent, these pieces are sure to entertain.
